As a national network of local government leaders, Climate Caucus is aware that there are many different ‘frames’ through which the climate, ecological, and equity crises can be viewed, the SDGs being a prominent example. While these differing frames (SDGs, Green New Deal, Doughnut economics, etc.) have many shared elements, their differing focuses may serve to diminish or dilute their impact on the public and policy makers.  We aim to identify an overarching common frame that would allow those working on the climate, ecological, and equity crises to speak with a single clear message, without sacrificing the specifics of their approach.

With this objective in mind, we held a virtual gathering of our own members and supporters, called Frameworks for Change, on May 19, 2020 to begin this discussion.

At this session we would like to share the lessons that emerged from Frameworks for Change and engage attendees in a discussion around developing a single unifying frame that all actors can support.

Agenda:

- Introductions and overview of Frameworks for Change
- Discussion with Megan Curren, Councillor District of North Vancouver and moderator of Frameworks for Change, and Rik Logtenberg, Councillor, City of Nelson and founder of Climate Caucus about the lessons and challenges that emerged at Frameworks for Change
- Q and A with attendees about the potential for a unifying frame and message for climate action
- Closing thoughts and reflections
