Dr. Ingrid Waldron is a sociologist, an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University and the Director of the Environmental Noxiousness, Racial Inequities & Community Health Project (The ENRICH Project). Her research focuses on the impacts of racism and other forms of discrimination on health and mental health in Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities in Nova Scotia and Canada; Black women’s health and mental health; the racialization of psychiatric diagnoses; the impacts of gentrification and other structural determinants of health in the Black community in the North End of Halifax; intimate partner violence experienced by racially and culturally diverse women in mid-life; and protective factors for children’s welfare in African Nova Scotian, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. Dr. Waldron’s Environmental Noxiousness, Racial Inequities & Community Health Project (The ENRICH Project). is investigating the social, economic, political and health effects of environmental racism in African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaw communities. She is the author of There’s Something in the Water (Fernwood Publishing: 2018).
